So excited to announce “Brave Spaces”! In early 2022 under the direction of PHS faculty member Jessica Lazarus, the students of the digital photography class were challenged by PTAD to create a photography project that would support the PTAD goals.

Students discussed and researched addiction and mental health issues in the classroom, drew sketches to outline their visions, and brought them to life while walking around town taking photos of themselves and the town landscape through portraits and other selective imagery. They titled their collection “Brave Spaces” to showcase how these photos were sharing those difficult moments and situations that impact their lives. In understanding and creating visibility of these situations the students hope to bring change and support to their peers in need.

Ms. Lazarus and PTAD have created banners using the images to hang in the center of town and the photos themselves will be showcased at the public library and other venues throughout the year.
